Police investigate theft of 9 air conditioners from east side apartment complex

Madison police would like to know who is stealing air conditioner units from an east side apartment complex.

Thieves stole seven individual units from the complex in the 2400 block of East Washington Avenue overnight Thursday. A management company notified police about the theft Thursday morning.

It wasn’t the first incident involving the property’s air conditioners, according to police. Police said someone cut the copper wires to two other units a couple of weeks ago, and the next day, both units were stolen.

Police said a witness reporting seeing a couple of men targeting air conditioning unit in a dark-colored pickup truck around 7a.m. Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Madison police.
