Police investigate shooting, 1 injured
Incident at Alden, Hillcrest drives appears to be targeted, police say
MADISON, Wis. — One person was injured in a shooting on Madison’s near west side Monday afternoon, officials said.
Dane County dispatch said the call came in around 12:40 p.m. for reports of shots fired at the intersection of Hillcrest and Alden drives.
A witness heard multiple rounds fired and then saw an SUV driving away from the area, according to a release from Madison police. As the vehicle left, a witness saw several people standing on a street corner, and one of them matched the description of a man who later showed up at a local hospital.
Police said they don’t know how many shooters there were, but they are still at large.
The shooting happened in the intersection and not at a home, and officers found a number of shell casings in the roadway during the investigation, police said.
The 20-year-old man that was injured showed up at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, officials said.
Police said the injured man does not live in the area, and the shooting appears to be a targeted act of violence.
