Police investigate man shot in torso as attempted homicide
MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Police Department is investigating an attempted homicide after a 21-year-old man showed up at an emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Officers said the shooting occurred in a residence on North Stoughton Road on Monday night.
The 21-year-old man was shot in the torso, but is expected to be OK, officials said. His injuries were non-life-threatening.
The victim told police he was inside an apartment when the shooting happened.
On Wednesday, police said detectives believe the victim was shot during a targeted robbery. There were two masked intruders.
MPD spokesman Joel DeSpain had said Tuesday that investigators don’t believe the case is connected to a recent shooting outside a gas station on Madison’s east side.
Madison police are looking into a possible suspect and working to contact people who may know what led to the shooting and why the victim was targeted.
