MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating after a person living on the city’s east side reported having a gun pulled on them while interrupting an apparent theft early Friday morning.

Police were called to the area of Grandwood Court and North Walbridge Avenue near the Highway 30/Highway 51 interchange just before 4 a.m.

A person there reported they were sleeping when they woke up to a sawing sound.

When they looked outside, they found a man near their car. The person confronted the man before the suspect pulled a gun on them before removing a hydraulic jack from the victim’s car and getting into another vehicle and leaving the scene.

Police did not specify what the suspect was trying to steal from the car. They did say the suspect left the scene in a maroon van driven by another person.
