Police: Intoxicated Beltline driver arrested after hitting family’s SUV

A 21-year-old Madison man was arrested Sunday after police said he fled a rollover crash on the westbound Beltline.

Police said two other drivers who witnessed the crash followed Dylan Conway-Greene’s vehicle and were on the phone with 911 operators explaining what happened at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Conway-Greene struck an SUV on the Beltline near Whitney Way causing it to roll over. He kept driving, police said.

A couple and their two children, ages 6 and 8, were in the SUV, but they were not seriously injured.

Police said that when they arrested Conway-Greene, he was crying and cooperative, telling officers he had been drinking and smoking marijuana prior to the crash.

He told officers that his speed on the Beltline varied from 60 to 90 mph, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

He said he didn’t stop after hitting the vehicle because he was scared and in disbelief about what he had done, police said.
