MADISON, Wis. — A Sun Prairie woman was driving impaired Thursday evening when she allegedly jumped a curb and struck two pedestrians, injuring them, police said.

Madison police said a Madison couple was standing on a sidewalk at the intersection of Eastwood Drive and Division Street at about 5 p.m. waiting to cross street. A walk light signaled them to cross, but they didn’t enter the road as a speeding car blew through the crosswalk. That’s when the man and woman looked to see an SUV headed toward them. The SUV jumped a curb, struck a light pole and then hit them.

Police said the woman has a broken rib, and both of them are “extremely sore.” The pair will be seeking additional medical care to insure there are no other injuries.

The driver of the SUV, 51-year-old Cecilia R. Brown-Troup, was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by impaired driving and felony bail jumping.

Prior to the pedestrians being hit, the SUV also reportedly caused a minor hit-and-run crash on John Nolen Drive, officials said.
