Police: Gun pulled at traveling sales stop

A traveling salesman had a gun pulled on him while making a stop in a north side neighborhood, according to a report from Madison police.

The 42-year-old salesman and a 44-year-old associate told police they stopped their van in the 200 block of Kennedy Heights on Wednesday night when a group of young men asked them to stop to see what they had to sell.

The salesman said the men looked for a couple minutes before one of them grabbed for a $75 belt leading to a tug-of-war between the young man and the sales associate. The owner told police he asked the young man not to touch the merchandise. The associate got the belt back.

One of the young men then pointed a handgun at the sales team. The young men left in a vehicle before police arrived.
