Police find 16-year-old who refused to leave friend’s home hiding in clothes pile
BARABOO, Wis. — A 16-year-old boy was arrested after he refused to leave a girl’s home in Baraboo Monday morning, police said.
The Baraboo Police Department said officers responded to a report of a boy who refused to leave a home in the 600 block of 10th Street about 9:30 a.m.
Police said the 16-year-old daughter of the woman living there had the boy over, and he stayed overnight Sunday. He refused to leave in the morning, so the woman and her daughter left the home and called police.
Police said a background check on the teen revealed an active warrant for his arrest and a history of possession of firearms. Officers made attempts to verbally contact the teen and request he leave, but received no response.
According to the report, police secured the perimeter and brought in a K-9 unit from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. The officers entered the home and found the teen hiding in a pile of clothing. He was taken into custody.
Police said the Sauk County K-9 unit found a bag of marijuana inside the residence while searching for the suspect. The area was re-opened to normal traffic at about 11 a.m.
Police did not identify the teen who was arrested nor the family that lives in the home.
