Police find 16 shell casings, property damage on west side
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating an incident after they found 16 shell casings and property damage Wednesday night on the west side, according to a release.
Police were sent just after 7 p.m. to the 6700 block of Jacobs Way for a weapons violation call.
Investigators found several shell casings in the roadway and several buildings with property damage, according to the release. At least two apartment units were struck, along with a tree.
There were people inside apartments at the time of the gunfire, and several told police they hit the floor to avoid being hit.
Police said they believe one of the apartments was targeted.
No injuries have been reported, officials said.
