Madison police check welfare of person on Seminole Highway overpass, leads to traffic backups on Beltline

MADISON, Wis. — A law enforcement incident caused traffic backups on the Beltline near Todd Drive on Wednesday night.

According to an incident report, Madison police and surrounding jurisdictions responded at 8:07 p.m. to the Seminole Highway overpass for a report of a female standing on the outside railing.

The report said officers were able to make contact and secure the individual into protective custody.

According to an alert from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the incident happened at 8:13 p.m. on the ramp from Seminole Highway.

Officials said all westbound lanes in addition to the left eastbound lane were closed due to the incident.

The incident was cleared at 8:57 p.m.
