Police arrest man who held woman hostage in Dodgeville
DODGEVILLE, Wis. — Iowa County Officials say the man who held a woman hostage in Dodgeville was arrested Monday night.
Danny S. Parnell was involved in an incident in the town that put all schools in the city on lockdown Monday, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office said.
Officers were called to a mobile home on East Spring Street around 1:15 p.m. after a caller told authorities that a man had a gun and was holding a woman hostage, according to Dodgeville Chief of Police David Bauer. The woman was able to escape.
When officers responded, Parnell was not there, according to officials.
Parnell was eventually found at the EagleMart in Barneveld, officials said. He was arrested around 9:15 p.m., and is being held on multiple pending felony charges.
Parnell is believed to be in a romantic relationship with the woman who owned the mobile home at Slaney’s Mobile Home Park where the incident happened. The hostage was a different woman that Parnell is believed to have only met Monday, according to officials.
All schools in Dodgeville were on a soft lockdown due to police recommendation Monday, according to school officials.
The lockdown started around 2 p.m. Monday, according to Dodgeville School District administrator Dr. Jeff Jacobson. Students remained on lockdown through the end of the school day.
Around 3 p.m., police asked district officials to have students who typically walk home to be picked up by their parents or make other arrangements, Jacobson said. Students who typically took a bus to East Spring Street and Section Line Road were also asked to make other arrangements.
