Police arrest burglary suspect, recover stolen items in Crawford Co.
Crawford County authorities said they arrested a burglary suspect after executing a search warrant in the Village of Wauzeka.
The Prairie du Chien Police Department, along with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at 303 East Front St. in the Village of Wauzeka on April 18.
Police said the search warrant was a result of an investigation into burglaries in the city of Prairie du Chien and rural Crawford County.
As a result of the search warrant, numerous items were seized as evidence, authorities said.
While conducting the search, officers located stolen items in the home that led to the closure of other burglaries in the city of Prairie du Chien and rural Crawford County, according to the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
Police said that as a result of the search warrant, Lukas L. Pitzer, 25, of Wauzeka, was arrested and placed in the Crawford County Jail on charges of burglary.
“I cannot begin to explain how pleased I am with the joint cooperative effort between the Prairie du Chien Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department to solve all these burglaries in the area,” Chief Chad Abram said in a news release.
Both the Prairie du Chien Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department said they will be seeking further charges against Pitzer, along with other individuals identified during the investigation, through the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office.
