Police arrest bar theft suspect, credit tips received through mobile app
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Janesville police said they arrested a suspect Sunday afternoon in a case involving theft from a local bar after receiving multiple tips through a mobile app.
Police arrested 32-year-old Joseph M. Kjornes of Janesville on felony theft charges.
The theft occurred at 11:30 p.m. Friday at the Taasbag bar on the 2300 block of Milton Avenue, police said.
Police said when the bartender was distracted, Kjornes walked behind the bar and took a bag of money.
After receiving multiple tips from the public through the P3 Tips mobile app, a JPD officer went to Kjornes’ home on Memorial Drive and arrested him on a preexisting restraining order violation just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
“Officers are still working through the investigation and processing a multitude of property related to the case,” a department news release said.
Kjornes was being held in the Rock County Jail as of Sunday night.
