Police arrest 4 in string of armed robberies
Suspected robbers used cash to buy drugs, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Police have arrested four people in connection to a recent string of robberies in Madison and Middleton.
Madison police said Tuesday that detectives from Madison and Middleton have charged Joshua E. Kahl, 29, of Madison, Matthew O. Roach, 23, of Madison, William L. Christian, 28, with no permanent address, and Anne E. Christian, 29, with no permanent address, with multiple robberies spanning Oct. 29 through Nov. 16.
Investigators said much of the money taken was used to buy drugs including heroin, according to the report.
Police said William Christian, Anne Christian and Kahl were accused of robbing the Tobacco Outlet Plus on East Washington Avenue Oct. 29.
William Christian reportedly robbed the PDQ on South Ridge Way in Middleton on Nov. 4.
Both Christians and Kahl are also accused of robbing the Preplayed game store on Mineral Point Road Nov. 10.
William Christian, Kahl and Roach are accused of robbing Paisley Hair Salon on University Avenue Nov. 12.
Kahl, Roach and Anne Christian are accused of robbing the Tobacco Outlet Plus on University Avenue in Middleton on Nov. 16.
William Christian was charged with four counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of substantial battery. Kahl was charged with three counts of armed robbery and two counts of party to armed robbery. Roach was charged with two counts of party to armed robbery. Anne Christian was charged with four counts of party to armed robbery.
