Police: 28-year-old with BAC 3 times legal limit arrested for OWI
Officer noticed vehicle drift into bike lane on University Avenue, officials say
MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison police arrested a Madison man for operating while intoxicated after his vehicle drifted into a bike lane, according to a release.
An officer noticed a vehicle, driven by Daniel Pirsch, 28, drift into the bike lane on University Avenue near North Orchard Street Wednesday around 2:50 p.m., according to the release.
The officer determined the vehicle’s registration was expired, officials said. The officer stopped the vehicle, and Pirsch had slurred speech and said he had consumed a half-pint of vodka.
Pirsch failed field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test indicated his blood alcohol content was 0.24 percent, which is three times the legal driving limit, officials said.
Pirsch was arrested on tentative charges for his fourth OWI offense, which is a felony charge.Madison crime map
