Platteville police warn of Dish Network scam calls
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Platteville police are warning area residents of a scam in which a caller pretends to be from Dish Network.
In a Facebook post, police said Dish representatives contacted them to warn them of the scam. Police said scammers claim to be from the satellite television provider and claim to be able to upgrade the customer’s services for $150, if the customer sends a check or money order to an address in New York City’s Brooklyn borough.
Police said Dish Network employees will not use phone calls to ask customers to send money without posting it on their monthly bill, and all payments should be sent to the address on the bill.
