Platteville city manager announces resignation
Larry Bierke stepping down next spring
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The Platteville City Manager has decided to step down from his post next spring.
In a memo to the Platteville Common Council last week, Larry Bierke submitted his resignation effective May 1st, 2015. The council voted 5-2 Tuesday night to accept his resignation, with council members Barb Stockhausen and Dick Bonin voting against it.
On Nov. 17, the city offered to extend Bierke’s contract and on Nov. 20 he announced that he was choosing to pursue other career opportunities, according to a release. The city council will begin the process of filling his position in the coming months.
Bierke has filled the position since December, 2010. He previously worked as the city manager in Mt Horeb.
