Pit bull shot during armed robbery, police say

A pit bull is doing fine after being shot during an armed robbery in Janesville Tuesday night, according to a release.

Janesville police responded to a report of an armed robbery at 203 S. Jackson St. at 6:15 p.m., officials said.

The victims said the robber walked into their home with a handgun and asked for the safe, money and weed.

According to the release, when the victim’s pit bull walked toward him he shot the dog and left the house.

The robber is described as white, 20 to 30 years old, with pale looking skin by his eyes. He was 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build and possibly blue eyes. He was wearing a black mask, a black form-fitting jacket with lighter-colored buttons or snaps, dark-colored sweat pants and black gloves.

The dog was treated for the injury and is doing fine, police said.
