Pit bull bit man on bike, officials say

The Janesville Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating a dog that bit a man Monday, according to a release.

Officials said the 52-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the bike path behind 222 N. Franklin St. around 5:20 p.m. when he was bitten by a dog whose owner is unknown.

The dog is described as a large-sized pit bull that is brown and white, according to the release. The dog was leashed and had a collar with tags.

Police said the dog was with an owner who helped the man up and said the dog was up to date with vaccines and licenses.

The man describes the dog’s owner as a Hispanic man approximately 50 years old and short with a medium build.
