Pinney Library temporarily closes to prepare for big move

MADISON, Wis. — Pinney Library on Madison’s east side is temporarily closed ahead of their move to the library’s new building.

Beginning Sunday night the library will be closed for about one month allowing staff time to pack and organize materials headed to the new space.

The new library is opening on March 12th at 516 Cottage Grove following an 11:00 AM ribbon cutting ceremony.

Librarian Jamie Vache said they’ve already received a lot of enthusiastic feedback from the community about the new space.

“People are getting really excited to see their new space and see how large it is. And be able to use study rooms and meeting rooms and a quiet reading room and especially our children’s play lab,” she added.

According to staff patrons can in the meantime visit any other location in their shared system to meet their library needs.

However, specifically requested items can be picked up at Hawthorne Library located on East Washington Ave.

Grand opening festivities are set to follow that weekend featuring tours, screen printing activities, and musical performances.
