Phyllis S. Carley
Phyllis S. Carley, age 89, of Dodgeville, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bloomfield Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on January 16, 1925 in Dodgeville, a daughter of the late Francis and Agnes (Stevens) Haley. On September 11, 1944, she married Erving Carley at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Phyllis worked as a Defense Worker at the Badger Ordinance Plant in Baraboo and then a homemaker, when she and Erving started a family. In later years, she worked as a home care giver. She was known as the “Donut Lady” and loved reading, her grandkids and family gatherings.
Phyllis is survived by her children, William (Linda) Carley, Rose (Russ) Johnson, Warren “Punk” (Cheri) Carley, John (Cindy Legler) Carley, Chris (Mike) McCluskey, Harold Carley and Laura Esch; her grandchildren, Bill (Tara) Carley, Anna (Keith) Egoske, Cindi (Nathan) Olson, James Johnson, Matthew McCluskey, Nick McCluskey, Amy (Paul) Manning, Jenny (Dirk) Lessner and Terri (Don) Oliver; 7 great grandchildren; her sister, Betty Leitske; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Erving Hugo Carley.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
