MIDDLETON-Phyllis Quamme, age 88, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012. She was born on September 22, 1924, in Milwaukee , the daughter of Thomas J. and Catherine A. (Riley) Kelly. Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee. Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arnold Herbert Quamme on May 2, 1946 and lived in Midldeton for over 27 years. She was employed briefly with Wisconsin Telephone Company, Madison and later by the State Laboratory of Hygiene for 29 years. Upon retirement in 1980, they moved to Lake Holcombe and Phyllis was the Town Clerk for one term. In 1993, she returned to Madison and volunteered countless hours for the American Cancer Society, Middleton Senior Center and Project Line. She was a past member of the Madison’s Women’s Club.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Gary (Anne) Quamme; grandchildren, Tara (Tony) Pena, Ryan (Kate) Quamme, Jennifer Schoninger and Jason Schoninger; great-grandchildren, Beckham and Nolan Quamme, Anna-Marie Schoninger; sister-in-law, Barbara (Norman) Herro and numerous nieces, nephews and their decendents. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Karen Ann in 1953 and her husband Arnold in 1983.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. or to the Salvation Army. “If I’m sittin, I’m knittin!”
