Phyllis Putz, 91, of Avoca died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at her home. She was born May 25, 1921 the daughter of Ben and Myrtle (Johnson) Gottschall. She worked at the telephone office and furniture factory in Avoca. On June 19, 1942 she married Norbert Putz in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Avoca. Phyllis and Norbert farmed for many years. She loved to garden, crocheted, and quilted. Phyllis cleaned houses for many people later in her life. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Avoca.
Phyllis is survived by four children, Dean (JoAnn) Putz of Muscoda, Norm (Eva Jo) Putz of Richland Center, Sharon (Cameron) Dieter of Muscoda, Randy (Gale Knoble) Putz of Avoca, 9 grandchildren, Nordean (Julie) Putz of Avoca, Jody Koch of Highland, Denny (Kandy) Putz of Muscoda, Jolene Putz (special friend Dan Louis) of Spring Green, Troy (Emily) Putz of Richland Center, Debbie (John) Geisler of Richland Center, Kathy (Tom) Nondorf of Muscoda, Amanda (Brent) Tisdale, Blue River, Melissa (Jake) Elder of Sextonville, 17 great-grandchildren, sister, Betty Jean Olson of Waunakee, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norbert Putz and sister Darlene Theel.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 12:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Avoca, with Reverend Steven C. Schneider officiating. Burial will be held at the Avoca Cemetery. Friends may call at the Godager Pratt Funeral Home in Muscoda on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM or again on Saturday, July 28 at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM. The family suggests memorial be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Godager Pratt Funeral Home of Muscoda is assisting the family with the arrangements.
