Fans pack Titletown to tailgate ahead of Packers opener
The Green Bay Packers’ Monday night home opener against the Detroit Lions will be the first full-capacity game at Lambeau Field since the 2019 season, and fans are excited to be back. Gates outside the stadium opened about 4 hours before kickoff, letting the familiar sights (and smells) of tailgating return to Titletown.
While some Packers fans are making the pilgrimage to Lambeau for Monday night’s game, others decided it would just be easier to permanently move so they could get closer to the action.
Michelle and John Anderson are originally from central Iowa, but decided to move up to Green Bay just to go to Packers games.
“This is my favorite place, this is my happy place,” Michelle said. “It’s just so much fun, a lot of memories and good times. We make friends, whether they are the opposing team or our own team, we just have a great time.”
The Andersons have been coming to Packers games for 21 years — and are still waiting for their names to come up on the long waiting list for Packers season tickets.
