Phillips named UW starting QB
QB beat out O'Brien to replace Stave
MADISON, Wis. — Curt Phillips beat out transfer Danny O’Brien Saturday for the chance to start at quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers Saturday
That means Phillips will get his first collegiate start in a huge game that would put the Badgers into the Big Ten championship game if they win.
Phillips has had quite a career at Wisconsin– he’s had 3 ACL surgeries on his right knee and has thrown only 12 passes in his career as a badger.
But he’ll get the keys to the car, if you will, Saturday in Bloomington.
“Anytime you sign with a school and you are a quarterback your dream is to be the starter,” said UW coach Bret Bielema. “He has battled through a lot and he has put himself back on top and I am excited for him to play.”
“It may not be a traditional Wisconsin offense and you will see some different things,” said Bielema. “And it’s something we are excited to see.”
The Badgers kick off against the Hoosiers Saturday at 11 in Bloomington, IN.
