Phillip Jay Johnson
Phillip Jay Johnson, age 61, of Madison, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, doing what he loved; riding his Goldwing. He was born April 14, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Norma (Romp) Johnson. He was very proud of being a North High School alumni, and loved his Des Moines roots.
Of Phil’s many jobs, he was most proud of his work as a supervisor at City of Madison, Metro Transit, from which he recently retired. He enjoyed his daily trips to the Coffee Gallery and weekly to the farmer’s market. He home-canned and preserved pickles, tomatoes, and peppers which he grew in his front yard raised vegetable garden. He did leather work, enjoyed his bike, watching the humming birds and playing the harmonica.
Phillip is survived by his family, Janice Kruse; Elsie and Glen Kruse, Linda (LaVern) Schnor, Gary (Doris) Kruse, Denise (Mike) Larson, Patrick , Danielle and Desiree Schnor, Vinod and Heather Abnichandani, Joel Kruse and other relatives and friends, including Chris Elliott, Shannon Rhuland and Arianna Rhuland.
