Philip John Lawrenz Johnson
Philip John Lawrenz Johnson, age 29, of Janesville, lost his life after a long battle with drug addiction and mental illness on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
He was born in Stoughton on Aug. 30, 1987, the son of Eric R. and Teresa (Lawrenz) Johnson. He attended St. Mary Catholic School and completed his GED. He was very athletic as a youth and loved playing sports. He belonged to the Janesville Youth Hockey, Janesville Youth Football, and Janesville Youth Baseball Clubs. Philip was active in 4-H and won the Grand Champion Barrow his first year in 4-H. He loved his entire family, especially his son, Adrien, and Jasmine. He was funny, caring, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone less fortunate.
Philip is survived by his son, Adrien Johnson; parents, Eric and Teresa Johnson of Clinton; sister, Kathryn (Doug Hesebeck) Johnson of Beloit; loving companion and mother of his son, Jasmine Knutson; grandparents, Barbara Lawrenz and Irene Johnson; aunts and uncles: Kathryn (Peter) Wilke, LeAnn (Tim) Paton, Leo (Sue) Johnson and Nancy (Robert) Brown; great aunts and uncles, Ruth Ann (Neil) Libby and Kathryn Robinson; and cousins: Craig (Nicole) Paton, Claudia Wilke, Hannah Wilke, Patrick Johnson and Rae Johnson. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Lawrenz, and Raymond Johnson; special great grandmother, Anna Mae Lawrenz.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH with Rev. James Johnson officiating. A visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00 noon at the Church. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy Memorials are preferred to any youth sports or a charity of your choice. SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
