Peter A. “Pete” Shemak
Peter A. “Pete” Shemak, age 45, of the Dodgeville/Mineral Point area, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Upland Hills Health following a courageous battle with cancer. Pete was born on September 3, 1967 in Dodgeville to Patrick and Mary (Zwolanek) Shemak Sr. He married the former Kathy Kelly of Potosi on September 29, 2001. Pete farmed near Dodgeville for many years and currently farmed near Mineral Point. He was also a Heavy Equipment Operator for Yahara Materials in Waunakee. Pete was a member of the Highland Rodeo Club for over 15 years. He enjoyed being out of doors, whether riding horses, tending to cattle or just spending time with his Godson, Seth Watrud.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Patrick and Mary Shemak Sr.; a sister, Christine “Chris” Shemak on March 26, 2004 and his mother-in-law, Irene Kelly.
Pete is survived by his wife, Kathy of Mineral Point; four brothers, Patrick (Connie) Shemak Jr. of Muscoda; Mike (Lynnette) Shemak of Highland; Dan (Carla) Shemak of Highland and Tom (Kelly) Shemak of Highland; his father-in-law, Virgil Kelly of Lancaster as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2012 at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church in Highland. Fr. Kenneth J. Frisch will officiate with burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Monday after 10:00 A.M.
