Penny Ann (Thom) Gray
NEVADA TX–Penny Ann (Thom) Gray age 65, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at her home.
She was born on February 25, 1949 in Columbus, Wisconsin to Merlin and Betty (Parsons) Thom. The first of six children, Penny enjoyed being the “Big Sister.” She met the love of her life Robert Gray while attending Columbus High School and they married on January 14, 1969.
They celebrated 45 years of marriage this last January. They enjoyed many adventures together traveling with Bob’s military career to Texas and Germany. They later made their home in Texas to raise their family.
Penny will be greatly missed by her husband Robert Gray, two sons Erick Gray (Pam Cruz) of Garland, Texas; Matthew & Amy (Ferris) Gray of Huntington Beach, California; four grandchildren Gus, Hunter, Chloe, and Conner Gray; her parents Merlin & Betty Thom; a sister, Carolyn “Kate” Thom (Mary Jo Gessler) and extended family siblings Cindy (Kevin) McDermott, Karen (Tim) Luey, Tim Higgins and Dale (Sharon) Roate.
Penny was a loving, kind and caring person who always put the needs of others before her own. She cherished time spent with family especially with her grandchildren.
Penny was preceded in death by her four brothers Mike, Tim, Larry and Bruce Thom; grandparents Gus & Edith Thom; Helma Kemp; and Arthur “Bert” & Myrtle Parsons.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Jensen Funeral & Cremation, 248 S. Ludington, Columbus, Wisconsin. Inurnment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Columbus.
