Pedestrian struck by car dies of injuries, police say
MADISON, Wis. — The pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing an east Madison road last month has died, police said.
Madison police said a 76-year-old Madison man was struck by a car while trying to cross East Buckeye Road at 7:10 p.m.
On Monday, police said the man died at the hospital Wednesday, eight days after the incident.
The man, dressed in dark clothing, was not walking in a crosswalk, according to the report.
Madison police said the 68-year-old driver estimated she was going about 15 to 20 mph. She was preparing to turn north onto South Stoughton Road from westbound East Buckeye Road before the wreck.
Police said the driver wasn’t able to stop when the pedestrian suddenly appeared in front of her. Officers said the driver was cooperative and didn’t appear to be impaired.
The crash is under investigation by a Madison police traffic specialist.
