Pedestrian killed in East Washington Ave. crash identified as Madison man

MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle on East Washington Avenue earlier this week.

The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Monday night near the intersection of Lien Road. Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The victim has since been identified as 62-year-old Toni P. Cayton of Madison. Cayton died of injuries he suffered in the crash.

Cayton’s death marked the sixth pedestrian death on East Washington Avenue this year.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle that hit Cayton is cooperating with their investigation.

The medical examiner’s office and Madison Police Department are still investigating the crash.
