MADISON WI – SSM Health is releasing a multi-part video series titled “Peace in the Pandemic” with the goal of bringing serenity and coping mechanisms to those struggling with mental health during COVID-19.

“Mental health is, in fact, health,” noted Dr. Heather Schmidt, Director of Healthy Work and Wellness for SSM Health. “These videos are meant to be a gesture of hope for every patient and family we touch at SSM Health.”

The series is anchored by an introduction from Patrick McCruden, Chief Mission Integration Officer, who also shares a pre-Thanksgiving reflection on “In A Year Like This, Is There Anything to be Thankful For?” Other videos include tutorials on self-care through art, meditation and mindful eating practices and how to make homemade instruments for kids.

“Our friends in the videos are all demonstrating simple actions that anyone can do at home,” Dr. Schmidt said. “Our deepest wish is that it will touch some of our neighbors and give them tools to strengthen their resilience – and to help them see that they’re not alone.”

The videos will be released continually between now and Christmas. To view the series so far, visit SSM’s YouTube page or the SSM website.
