PD: Man stopped for speeding admits to drinking, faces 5th OWI
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man who admitted to drinking and driving faces his fifth drunken driving charge after an officer stopped him for speeding, police said.
A patrol officer observed a vehicle around 7:45 p.m. without its lights on speeding down Schroeder Road near Chapel Hill Road, according to a release.
The officer stopped the vehicle, and noticed the driver, 47-year-old Melvin L. Brown, of Madison, showed signs of alcohol impairment, police said. Brown also admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
Following field sobriety tests, Brown was arrested on tentative charges of fifth-offense operating while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle after revocation and operating a motor vehicle without required lights on.
