Pavelski, Janesville Jets continue tryouts

Team to trim roster to 27

With temperatures in the 90’s, Friday was a great day to go inside to watch hockey.

At Eagles Nest ice arena in Verona, the Janesville Jets continued their final tryout camp.

There are a lot of guys trying out, enough for seven teams to start. They’ll cut that down to 40 for more scrimmages over the weekend, then a final roster of 27 will make the Janesville Jets.

Joe Pavelski, a former badger and now San Jose Shark is a co-owner of the jets. He remembers back to the days when he was on the ice for this sort of tryout.

“It’s amazing and you look at how young kids are and how it seems like it was just yesterday but it’s been a little while — it’s been 8-9 years — since we were kind of in those days so it’s pretty fun to see — see kids play and try out and try to do anything to make the team,” said Pavelski.
