Paul R. Richardson, 84, of Cuba City passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Southwest Health in Platteville, WI, after a brief illness.

There will be a funeral service celebrating his life at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City with Pastor Dan Verdegan officiating. Burial with military rites accorded will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the United Methodist Church.

The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Paul was born on June 27, 1930 to Roscoe & Lydia (Kuhn) Richardson in Benton, WI. He was a graduate of Cuba City High School. He married Patricia Ann Heiser on Sept. 8, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City. He was a US ARMY Veteran. Prior to going into the Army, he worked with Cecil “Shorty” Steinbach as a mechanic on Studebakers. After he returned home from the service, he owned a Mobil Station and later a Gulf Station in Cuba City. After he sold the gas station he worked construction for Bernard Kuhle Construction. Paul ran the bowling alley in Galena, Illinois and also the Pro Shop at Platteville Bowling Lanes. He was an avid bowler and won his 300 ring in 1970. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, snowmobiling, and watching Wheel of Fortune. He and Pat enjoyed their rides together, in particular on his Goldwing Honda. Paul always enjoyed his hobbies but still found quiet time for family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 104 in Cuba City and the Platteville Area Men’s Bowling Association. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Paul is survived by a sister, Alice Richardson of Portage, WI and a sister-in-law, Cheryl White of Galena, IL; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia (Nov. 11, 2011) 2 sisters, Eleanor Schardt and Ilene Holt, and 3 brother-in -laws, Alvin Schardt, Earl Holt, and Jim Richardson.

In lieu of flowers a Paul R. Richardson Memorial Fund has been established.
