Paul Joseph LaReau
PARDEEVILLE- Paul Joseph LaReau, age 80, passed away Sunday Feb. 5, 2017 at Columbus Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937, the son of Ray and Pauline LaReau. He married Clarice Spalding on Dec. 19, 1964. Paul attended Saint Francis De Sales Seminary before entering the U.S. Marines. He also earned his bachelors of Science degree and a master’s degree in education and psychology from UW- Stevens Point. Paul taught in the Poynette school district for over 30 years, retiring as the Principal for Poynette elementary and middle school.
Following retirement, he created La Reau’s World of Miniature Buildings in Pardeeville. He loved model railroads and his car collection. Paul spent many hours with friends and family enjoying his model train collections as well as over 200 buildings that he had built for the miniature world over the years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Clarice; brother, Ted LaReau; sister, Rosemary Opsal; sister-in-law, Darlene (Jim) Mark; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Albert, Bernard, Tony, Antoinette, and Joan.
Funeral services will be held at DEKORRA LUTHERAN CHURCH, N3099 Smith Road, Poynette, at 12 noon on Saturday Feb. 11 with Reverend Ryan Rouse presiding. Burial will be held at Wyocena Village Cemetery at 3 p.m. following the funeral. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank all of his in -home caregivers, the staff at Columbus Community Hospital and Pardeeville EMS for all of the care they have given Paul.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital in Pauls’ name.
