Paul E. Bass
JANESVILLE—Paul E. Bass, age 88, of Janesville, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at Rock Haven.
He was born in Sauk County, WI, on July 16, 1925, the son of Ernest and Mildred (McGaw) Bass. He married Mary Elizabeth Warner on Sept. 14, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2009. Paul was a route manager for 7-Up Bottling Company for many years. He later became a carpenter building in residential home construction as well as in pre-fabricated buildings. Paul also worked with Bob McCulloch of McCulloch chainsaws in the commercial development of Pueblo West Retirement Community in Pueblo, CO, as well as Developments in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where the London Bridge was rebuilt. He took pride in chartering a Boeing 727 every month for several years to fly people from Rock County Airport to Colorado in order to make the development a success. Paul was active in Real estate and in addition to Bass Realty he also partnered with other businessmen in forming the Land Acquisition Company, GBH. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton, the Eagles Club and the Beloit Moose Club.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Bass of Beaverton, OR, and John (Barbara) Bass of Janesville; 5 grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, George; and sister, Enid.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the St. Mary Cemetery, Milton. Visitation will take place at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, Janesville, on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time the procession leaves for the cemetery at 12:00 p.m. The family asks that you dress casual.
