Patrick “Pat” Joseph Davis
Patrick Joseph Davis, age 68, Monroe, passed away unexpectedly as the result of an accident on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021.
Pat was born in Monroe on November 11th, 1952, and grew up in Orangeville, IL on a farm with his parents and siblings. In school, Pat enjoyed playing sports and working on cars. He graduated from Orangeville High School in 1970, and went on to work in many different trades. He was skilled in automotive work, construction, manufacturing, welding, and fabrication.
In 1975, Pat married Debra “Deb” Schilt at St. Victor’s Church in Monroe and bought their first home in Fitchburg. In 1979, they moved to their home on Jeffery Road in Monroe. In 1981, Pat started his own business, Davis Welding & Fabrication, where he worked on a wide variety of projects, from fixing farm equipment to building elaborate pigeon trailers. He was always willing to help anyone who walked in the door at any time on any day of the week. He grew his business for over 37 years, and retired in 2018.
Pat enjoyed working on projects and feeling accomplished at the end of the day. He put his heart and soul into building a beautiful pond area on their property in 2000. The Davis Pond has provided many years of joy to all who have spent time there. Pat had a special place in his heart for animals, and cared for many pets throughout the years. He was also known for being a prankster and enjoyed making people laugh.
Pat had a big loving family who cared for him very much. Pat is survived by his wife, Debra (Schilt) Davis, his daughter Amanda Davis, son Peter (Kelanie) Davis, and 4 grandchildren, Lillian and Charlotte Marks, and Desmond and Tate Davis, whom he cherished. He is also survived by his siblings: Ann (Don) Smith, Phil (Lynn) Davis, Jill (Keith) Zimmerman; stepsiblings: Tom Schilt, Ron (Loni) Schilt, and Patti (Tom) Stauffacher, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins; uncle Dale (Katie) Davis, and aunt Phyllis (Russ) Bauman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delton and Margaret Davis, father-in-law Robert Schilt, stepmother Joan (Schilt) Davis, and stepsiblings, Jon and Tammy Schilt.
The family will be holding a small private memorial service.
A memorial fund has been established, and contributions and condolences can be made through Newcomer Funeral Home or directly with the family.
The family is so grateful for all the love and support from those who have known Pat throughout the years and will cherish memories of him.
