Patrick Delaney Tinder

Patrick Delaney Tinder

It is with great sadness that the family of Patrick Delaney Tinder announce his sudden passing on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at 37 years old.

Patrick will be cherished and missed by his parents, Wayne and Sue Tinder of Loudon, Tenn.; his sister, Katie Tinder of Chicago, Ill.; and countless friends and family members.

Patrick was considered by his family to be part fish. His love for the water began as a boy on North Lake, in Wisconsin. As the family moved, that love for the water didn’t waiver, and he could often be found with friends on the waters of Lake Kampeska in Watertown, South Dakota or White Bear Lake in Minnesota. He loved snorkeling and scuba diving to explore the ocean on family sailing vacations in the Caribbean. The past few years, he could be found in his boat on the waters of Lake Waubesa and Lake Monona in Madison.

Patrick attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. In 2001, he began working for Hy-Vee in Ames and moved to Madison in 2009, as part of a team to assist with the opening of the first Hy-Vee store in Wisconsin on East Washington Avenue, Madison. He was promoted from Deli Manager to Meat Market Manager and was proud of the work he did for the company. Patrick loved his job. His co-workers and customers were his friends, and a huge part of his life.

Patrick was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Blackhawks. He enjoyed tailgating and attending games at Lambeau Field and the United Center with friends and family, as well as watching his favorite teams on TV with something tasty on the grill or in the smoker in his backyard.

A Celebration of Life will be held at THE EAST SIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Patrick’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House in Madison, at or to the Salvation Army at .
