Patricia A. Drifke
Madison – Patricia A. Drifke, age 79, of Madison, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born May 10, 1933 in Columbus, the daughter of Albert and Maria (Hatzinger) Voth, Sr.
She graduated from LaCrosse College in 1955. She was a long-time P.E. teacher at Fennimore area schools and Madison East High School. She then took time off to raise her family. She began a career at Rite-Way Bus Company for many years, until her retirement in 1999. She was a long-time member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She and her late husband Leonard were dedicated followers of their children and grandchildren’s athletic events. Whether it was in Madison or Rubicon, the two of them in their lawn chairs where the best fans ever and they never missed a game. She loved her weekly lunches with her friends and loved to read. Every morning, whether she was hungry or not, she would go to Perkins or the Cottage Café to visit with the staff. She enjoyed her trips to the casino playing the slots. She also dearly loved her furry grandbabies, Pepe, Tuxedo, Shadow and Tigger.
She is survived by four children, Steven (Ruth) Drifke, of Madison, Daniel (Marylynn) Drifke, of Florida, William (Mary) Drifke, of Madison and Ellen (LaTrell) Porter, of California; four grandchildren, Caitlin, Holly, Christopher and Allie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Drifke in 1999, her parents, two brothers, Albert, Jr. and Gordon; and three sisters, Mary Dunning, Ruth Waterworth and Carol Helmick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11:00 a.m., with Msgr. Michael Hippee officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
The family wishes to express thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital, especially Robyn in Pre-Op.
She is reunited now with her husband, who she missed dearly. She will be deeply missed by her family.
