Partnership between Madison College, DOC could help fill in-demand jobs
MADISON, Wis. — A new partnership between Madison College and the state Department of Corrections is helping to fill in-demand jobs.
The technical college will be lending nearly 20 welding machines to the Stanley Correctional Institution in Chippewa County, which will then provide vocational training opportunities for inmates.
“Our folks inside of corrections institutions are getting training that will allow them to re-enter society has 97 percent of them will have skills,” Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch said.
Kleefishch said on the state jobs website that there are 1,400 opening for welders and she hopes this program will help fill some of those positions.
