Pankowski turns disappointment into opportunity
Annie Pankowski said being the final cut for the 2014 US Women’s Olympic hockey team was the most difficult thing she’s ever had to experience.
But Pankowski has turned that disappointment into a motivating tool in her first year with the Wisconsin Badger women’s hockey team.
Pankowski is off to a great start with 14 goals and 17 assists in her rookie season.
Spending time with other former Wisconsin greats on the US national team helped open her eyes.
“Every day I got to see the leadership Meghan Duggan brought to the team, the hard work that Brianna Decker brought and the absolute skill that Hillary Knight brought.” said Pankowski.
“It’s the incentive to work harder. It makes me not want to feel that way again.”
