Pair lured man into street, attacked him, officials say

Officer saves woman in West Towne Mall

A man was attacked Saturday night in downtown Madison, officials said.

The 29-year-old man heard someone yelling in the middle of the street in the 300 block of North Paterson Street around 10:16 p.m., according a release. The man went to investigate and was struck in the face by another person.

Both attackers started beating on the victim and demanded money, officials said. The man was able to fight off both attackers.

One of the attackers threatened to get a gun nearby but no weapon was seen, according to the release.

Police said both attackers were last seen traveling northbound on North Paterson Street.

One attacker is described as 15- to 20-year-old white man, 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 110 pounds. He was last seen with light brown shaggy hair and wearing a large white T-shirt and denim shorts. The second attacker is described as a 17- to 20-year-old black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was last seen with short hair and wearing a red hooded zip-up jacket.

Officials ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Madison Police Department.
