Packers’ running backs compete for spots

Mini-camp to start next week

With the start of mini-camp only days away, the members of the Green Bay Packers’ running back corps are readying themselves for what’s ahead.
Ryan Grant is out of the picture. James Starks will get the first shot at the starting spot.
However, Brandon Saine and Alex Green are fighting for action, and also a spot on the 53-man roster.
Coach Mike McCarthy said they’re watching the players closely.
“I like the way James Starks is moving. I’m anxious to see Alex Green out there. Brandon is probably the most consistent guy out there. I think both free agents have a chance to make it, as far as their movement ability,” he said. “Our whole schedule is set up to make sure these guys have every opportunity to get through every installation, schematically get ready to come back for a very competitive training camp.”
