GREEN BAY, Wis. — Quarterback Kurt Benkert’s time with the Green Bay Packers has come to an end.

The team announced Friday it had released Benkert from its roster.

The Green and Gold signed Benkert in May 2021 as starter Aaron Rodgers’ future with the team remained unclear.

“Life man,” Benkert tweeted. “I appreciate everything that came with being a Packer. Equally as excited to see what’s next, can’t wait to get to work.”

Benkert was on the Packers’ practice squad for all of the 2021 season and played in one game as a COVID-19 replacement.
