Packers open training camp trying to answer who will replace Adams

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The energy is high and the mindset is hungry in Green Bay as the Packers officially kick off training camp.

The numbers and names on the jerseys are looking a little different this year than in previous years. The biggest change — the loss of Davante Adams in the offseason. His absence leaves a big void and a big question: who is going to become reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers’ go-to guy at wide receiver?

“I like a hungry Allen Lazard,” Rodgers said Wednesday. “From Davante to Allen, it’s going to be a transition. But he’s capable of a lot.”

While the situation at wide receiver plays out, the Packers are also making adjustments due to players still recovering from injury, including All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is back on the Physically Unable to Perform list after another procedure on his knee this offseason.
