Lawn Care to Hardscapes

Founded in 1996, Ground Affects has changed the lives of many customers through the design and creation of original outdoor landscaping. What started with one small crew has turned into a five-crew operation that offers everything from basic lawn care to hardscapes like outdoor kitchens and water features.

With the summer months slowly approaching, Ground Affects owner Tom Ball and his crew are ready to make landscaping dreams come true. Taking on a niche hardscape market in the warmer months, including outdoor patios, entertainment areas, and fireplaces, Ground Affects is looking forward to building new relationships with customers seeking to revamp their outdoor spaces.

“We feel like landscaping is just as important as homebuilding, where you’re involved with the builders for six to nine months,” said Ball. “With us there are always ongoing facets. We want you to trust us and build a strong and trusting relationship.”

With a team of award-winning landscape designers on deck, consultation appointments build a foundation on which a precise, detailed design can be created. Ground Affects’ landscape designers survey property, create comprehensive plans and present to clients a design that embodies their personal vision and includes 3D imagery of the project.

“One of the best parts of this job is going in with a blank slate and eventually being able to look at it as a before and after,” said Ball. “You get
to make dreams come true and see genuine excitement from clients watching these dreams unfold.”

Summer is right around the corner, and Ball recommends calling Ground Affects sooner rather than later due to high demand in the warmer months.

“We don’t jeopardize the quality of our jobs by taking on too many of them. We strive for customer satisfaction even after the job is complete because we stand by our work. We want to build a trusting relationship with clients, because it could be lifelong,” said Ball.

Eighty Years of Practice

When Ernest Ganser founded the Ganser Co. in 1939, there was no way to predict just how trusted and successful the Madison-based business would become. After becoming partners with his son Hugh, Ernest quickly expanded his company through the 1950s in the wake of the Second World War.

Representing the third generation of Gansers to join the company, Dennis Ganser helped transform the company into what it is today. Dennis introduced to Madison new products such as vinyl siding, rubber flat roofing and Cedar Shake Thatch, for which he was nationally honored.

With a solid backbone on which to grow, the Ganser Co. continues to expand. Because homeownership comes with many difficulties, the company believes deeply in taking the complex issues homeowners face and solving them.

“A home remodel can be a very daunting task, and it’s easy to become overwhelmed with all the decisions and available options,” said owner Travis Ganser. “That’s why we pride ourselves in finding the solutions to make the process simple and comfortable for our customers. Being trusted to work on someone’s home is something we never take for granted.”

While summer gatherings with friends and family may seem far away, the Ganser Co. is here to help people add curb appeal and enjoyment to their homes in preparation for the summer months.

New siding, entry and garage doors, roofing, windows and gutters are just a few of the services the Ganser Co. offers to help folks enjoy the Wisconsin summer with those they love, in a space that looks and feels just as beautiful as the weather outdoors.

“A home is more than just a building,” said Travis. “It’s where we connect with loved ones, create cherished memories and watch our families grow.”

What’s trending in outdoor living? Stagmer said consumers want furniture that’s low maintenance but also environmentally sustainable. More manufacturers are using recycled plastics, for example. And all of The Bruce Co.’s wood furniture products are responsibly sourced.

The fabric used for umbrellas and pillows is made from extremely durable material that better protects your furniture from water and fading. Also, gas-fueled fire pits are growing in popularity, extending the backyard season from early spring into fall.

Added Value to Homes

Well-chosen updates can turn your yard into a sanctuary. But the benefits don’t stop there. Outdoor features may also add value in the eyes of prospective buyers.Hardscaping such as a gazebo or walkway can turn an ordinary property into a magical retreat. Even a simple patio helps would-be buyers imagine themselves entertaining in the yard, increasing the odds of a sale.

For a bigger value boost, consider building a sunroom. One option is a glass-walled solarium. It’s ideal for showcasing a gorgeous backyard or simply enjoying the beauty natural light provides. Plus, it makes an ideal home for plants and a mosquito-free spot for stargazing.

Even if you’re just replacing deck furniture, it’s important that your vision matches your budget. UW Credit Union offers a range of products to help you stay within that budget and create the outdoor space of your dreams.

“A home equity line of credit (HELOC) is often the way to go for a big project like a deck, outdoor kitchen or pool,” says Josh Fetting, UW Credit Union’s consumer lending sales manager. “With a HELOC, homeowners have the flexibility to pay for large projects as they go instead of financing everything up front. Plus, we offer a reduced rate for the first year.”

But what about a smaller project like a hot tub or playground?

“Don’t overlook personal loans and credit cards,” says Fetting. “Depending on your circumstances, they might be a good fit.”

No matter what type of project you choose, UW Credit Union makes sure you’re financing it in the most cost-effective way.

“We take pride in serving our members’ best interests,” Fetting says. “We’re a credit union, so our members—not corporate shareholders—are our reason for being. We’re here to help them at every stage of their lives.”
