Outdoor burning ban issued for most of Green Co.
Ban covers nearly the entire county
GREEN COUNTY, Wis. — The Green County Sheriff’s Office will implement an outdoor burning ban for most of the county, beginning Sunday at 8 a.m.
The Green County Fire Chief’s Association filed a written request with the county sheriff’s office, asking for the ban.
The ban will cover all of Green County, except for municipalities that have their own ordinances in place.
Campfires, burn barrels and brush piles are prohibited under the ban. Gas and charcoal grills are exempted from the ban.
Violators could be fined up to $200 and be responsible for the cost of damage done by a prohibited fire, according to authorities.
While the ban does not go into effect until Sunday morning, authorities ask residents to refrain from outdoor burning now due to the extremely dry conditions.
The outdoor burning ban will remain in effect until rain falls in the area.
