O’Reilly found not guilty in 2020 attack on State Sen. Tim Carpenter

MADISON, Wis. — Kerida O’Reilly was found not guilty Thursday night of being a party to felony substantial battery.

According to an online court filing, the jury asked one question Thursday afternoon before delivering its verdicts of not guilty on both counts to close the two-day trial.

In June 2020, O’Reilly was seen on video rushing toward State Sen. Tim Carpenter during a protest outside the state capitol.

Carpenter said he was trying to take a picture of the group of protesters when he was attacked.

Samantha Hamer was also charged in the attack, but accepted a plea deal for a lesser charge earlier this year.
