Oregon boys soccer team falls in state quarterfinals

The WIAA state boys soccer tournament began Thursday in Milwaukee, and the Oregon Panthers played their first game at state since 1998, when they won the Division 2 championship.

The Panthers faced a team, Kenosha Bradford, that’s never won a game at state. The Panthers haven’t allowed a goal this entire post season until Thursday.

The Red Devil’s Zach Reget scored the lone goal in the 21st minute.

Oregon goalie Dan Dombrowski made several saves, but Oregon couldn’t find the back of the net.

The Panthers’ season came to an end with a 1-0 quarterfinal loss Thursday.

Oregon head coach Kevin May said he was proud of the team, which finished the season with a 16-2-4 record.

“I am very proud. We came together and made something happen. It’s a pretty special group of kids, this just wasn’t the way we wanted to go out,” May said.

Senior captain Scott Odorico said he sees a bright future for the Oregon soccer team.

“Soccer is really big in Oregon, and it’s getting bigger. I think it showed here today. So it was a lot of fun. I think we are going to be here consistently, so I am just glad I could start the tradition,” Odorico said.
